SETUP GUIDE
Install Microsoft 365 on Windows 11 or Windows 10
Download Microsoft 365 from your licensed account, run the Windows installer, and verify activation and updates.
Use Microsoft’s account portal to obtain the installer tied to your license. Avoid third-party download bundles, activators, and “pre-activated” copies.
Pre-install checks
Install pending Windows updates, restart, confirm free disk space, and remove an incompatible Office edition if Microsoft’s installer identifies one. Work or school users should confirm an administrator assigned a desktop-app license.
Installation steps
- Sign in to the official Microsoft portal with the licensed account.
- Choose Install apps or the equivalent option for your account type.
- Run OfficeSetup.exe from Downloads and approve the Windows prompt.
- Keep the PC awake and online while files download.
- Open Word, sign in, and check File > Account for activation and updates.
Verify the result
Create a test document, save it locally, close Word, and reopen the file. Check that Word, Excel, and other expected apps appear in the Start menu.
Frequently asked questions
Why is there no Install button?
The account may not have a desktop-app license, or you may be using the wrong account. Business users may need an administrator assignment.
Should I disable antivirus?
Do not do so routinely. Follow vendor or Microsoft guidance only when a verified security product blocks the official installer.
